The Supreme Court on Thursday ruled that Attorney General Irfan Qadir could not serve as the prosecutor in a contempt of court case against real estate tycoon Malik Riaz. A two-member SC bench of Justice Ejaz Afzal and Justice Ejaz Ahmed Chaudhry announced the verdict. The SC also sought a list of senior lawyers from the registrar to appoint a prosecutor in the case. The SC detached Qadir from the case due to his biased behavior. The bench had reserved the judgment on Monday.
On Monday, Justice Afzal told the AG that it would not be appropriate for the AG to serve as prosecutor in the case. Meanwhile, the AG also submitted a request to make Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry a witness in the case, adopting the position that judges had appeared before the court in the past. The AG added that it was important for the chief justice to appear before the court in order to prove Malik Riaz wrong.
if a two-member SC bench can detach the AG on the basis of his biased behavior then why don't that assigned bench send the same notice to the CJP and make a real mark of Justice on Equality basis..!
It seems that SC is not acting like an neutral organization.
when this case near to solve the SC detach always these person, who is in the favour of Malik Riaz.
well Irfan Qadir is nice person its not fear to remove him as prosecutor in Malik's case on previous relation if it than Mr. suddle must kick out because of his influence toward Arslan.
SC seems biased by this decision as it is unsatisfactory for itself only, if Mr Irfan Qadir has already been Malik Riaz’s lawyer in some other cases, how does it prove that he is showing sympathy to him or he is biased in this case, SC should care fully look into if any proof of his biased behavior is available, any citizen has full right to choose any one of his satisfaction. Many such decisions have been taken by SC since the start of this case which is making its authority doubtful.
