Christians condemn blasphemous film

The leaders and members of the Pakistani Christians community in Hyderabad have strongly condemned the recent release of a blasphemous movie maligning Islam.
In a joint statement, issued here on Tuesday, Rt Rev Max J Rodrigues, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Hyderabad, Rt Rev Arshad Kaleem John, Bishop of the Diocese of Hyderabad, Church of Pakistan, Rev Fr Samson Shukardin, OFM Vicar General of the Catholic Diocese of Hyderabad and Rev Daniel Fiaz, Senior Vicar, Diocese of Hyderabad, Church of Pakistan have expressed their deep sorrow at the release of this provocative film. The community expressed solidarity with Muslim brothers at this difficult and challenging time.
On behalf of the Christian community, they appealed the international community in general and US President Barack Obama in particular to ensure that such shameful and unacceptable actions are prevented and that freedom of speech is not used as an excuse to hurt the dignity and the religious beliefs of others.
