Nimbus, one of India’s leading television marketing companies, has been approached by the Pakistan Cricket Board, it is reliably learnt here. According to the PCB sources, Harish Thawani, the Nimbus CEO met the PCB officials recently in Lahore. “Obviously the discussions were relating to the broadcasting rights. At present, the rights are with the Ten Sports”, the source said. Last year, interestingly, the BCCI had terminated its contract with Nimbus Communications, the rights holders for cricket in India, Nimbus had been awarded the rights for four years in January 2010, its second consecutive four-year deal with the Indian board. The agreement was valued at approximately around $436 million until 2014. Nimbus also held the broadcasting rights for the previous four years, for which it paid $612 million – subsequently negotiated to $549 million – in February 2006.
