The Lahore High Court on Thursday reserved verdict on a petition challenging use of expressions “my Lord” and “Your Lordship” to address judges of superior courts. Justice Nasir Saeed Sheikh was hearing the petition filed by Adovcate Malik Allah Yar Khan. The petitioner argued that the expressions “my Lord” and “Your Lordship” could only be used to address GOD. He added that addressing creation by the two terms was in violation of all Abrahamic religions. Referring to a presidential order promulgated in 1980 ordering using of Sir, Jinab-e-Wala or Janab-e-Aali to address judges he asked the court to issue directions pronouncing “ my Lord and Your Lordship” illegal. The court after hearing the arguments reserved its verdict on the matter.
