Sub-Divisional Magistrate Secretariat Nauman Yousuf has issued orders, banning mechanical/motorized boating at Rawal Dam, due to complaints of contamination and pollution in the lake water causing serious danger to human life and health due to its consumption.
Nauman issued these orders in an exercise of powers conferred on him under the section 144, Cr.P.C. This order will come into force with immediate effect and remain in force for a period of two months. He said that the consumption of this water poses a serous threat to human life and health. He said that there are sufficient grounds for proceeding under the section 144, Cr.P.C, 1898. Immediate prevention and speedy remedy is justified and the directions hereinafter appearing and necessary.
The order stated, “Notwithstanding the expiry of this order, everything done, actions taken, obligations, liabilities, penalties or punishments incurred, investigations, enquiries or proceedings pending against offenders is the Court of Magistrates having powers under the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898 and punishments in respect of this order shall be continued or launched as if this order had not expired”.
