The Pakistan People’s Party and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Thursday reached consensus over the provisions of the Sindh local government ordinance after hectic consultations spanning over three days, and Sindh Governor Ishratul Ebad Khan was expected to sign and promulgate the People’s Metropolitan Corporation Ordinance 2012 later in the night. The local government ordinance will be enforced in five districts of Sindh – Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana and Mirpurkhas, where mayors would be appointed while all other cities and towns of Sindh will be managed under the district municipal corporation headed by a chairman of district councils.
On Wednesday, the PPP leadership had failed to convince representatives from both Awami National Party (ANP) and Pakistan Muslim League Functional (PML-F) that the system will not be same as the one introduced by former president Pervez Musharraf. A major hurdle in negotiations between the PPP and MQM were the powers to be granted to nazims.

  1. Zardari bows to MQM blackmailing. They met ML-N,and the king, political, partisan president acting against constitution and LHC verdict despotically did it to keep his coalition-electoral alliance for future election.CEC must take notice and so CJ-LHC for 14 September.LHC should close President one function to save constitution, rule of law.No more dates, nation begs

  2. CONSENSUS or MUTHIDAS' COERCIVE BLACKMAILING BEFORE GENERAL ELECTIONS TO FURTHER EXTRACT BENEFITS FROM COALITION MASTER AND ELECTORAL ALLIANCE.ALREADY ELECTIONS ARE RIGGED

  3. why just before elections is clear?t obviously to influence next elections since the two ruling coalition parties of Sind and Center have failed Sind and Center by horrible corruption, misgoverance,'qatlo gharat' in Karachi .now pliant media, muthida anchors will make billion of rupees promotion to boost their image for elections..surely CEC,SCP,SHC,LHC in the light of its 14th September case should take notice

  4. The three-day duel of mutual blackmailing by these self-designated representatives of sindh (including karachi) is an umpteenth repetition of what has been going on since they decided to co-exist. Public awareness is steadily increasing and noora-kustee dramas make one feel like vomitting. Now the duo will have to do something out-of-this-world to win hearts. With deteriorating law and order situation, sky-rockecting rise in prices of necessities, passing exams and hiring on party-basis in govt. orgs., these fortnightly rootho-manao episodes will not get us anywhere. The two are advised to immediately address the real issues that matter, even at the cost of losing the next elections. Good can be, and is being done, by many who are not MPAs or MNAs. Get down to brass tacks and refrain from fooling each other and the rest of us.
