Impartial, judicious govt officers’ selection helps development: Justice Bhagwan Das

Chairman Federal Public Service Commission, Justice Rana Bhagwan Das attending a meeting of Inter Public Service Commissions hosted by Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) said that “Impartial and judicious selection in government departments can prove helpful in the development of the country”
He directed all provincial public service commissions to uphold the principles of impartiality and transparency in the process of recruitment. He said that all possible steps should be taken for modernizing the process of selection. While discussing the issue of computerized domiciles, he said that the matter should be dealt at the provincial level and assistance of legal experts could also be sought. Regarding introduction of online systems, he said that all resources should be utilized for the purpose so that modern facilities could be made available to the people and unnecessary burden lessened on the institutions. He added that verification of disabled persons should be conducted by a medical board.
PPSC Chairman Lt Gen Sabahat (r) Hussain briefed members that the Commission received 3, 10,333 applications during 2011 of whom a total of 5,643 candidates were selected and their names were sent to the concerned departments which is a record. Secretary (PPSC) Nayyer Iqbal briefed the attendees on the commission’s five years performance record. Honourable members of other provinces appreciated the steps taken by PPSC for making the process of selection transparent and impartial.
Balochistan Public Service Commission Chairman Ashraf Magsi, Members Federal Public Service Commission, Sindh, Azad Jamu and Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhawa and Higher Education Department attended the meeting. It was decided that Khyber Pakhtunkhawa Public Service Commission will host the next meeting of Inter Public Service Commissions.
