LAHORE – The fifth Infotech Invitational Golf Tournament has attracted skilled golf amateurs from all the golf clubs of Lahore and Karachi and the 18 holes stroke play competition today(Saturday), at the par 72 Royal Palm Golf Course will be an event of significance.
The tournament is likely to produce fireworks worthy of praise and out of a field of 90 participants, at least 30 are regular winners and can be considered front runners with at least 40 more, out to challenge them and equate wits and golfing expertise with them during this outing.
With the weather in the extremely comfortable zone, players like Sardar Murad, Tashfeen Ashraf, Azfar Hassan, Shoaib Bokhari, Ghayyur Zaidi, Asad Amin, Shoaib Shams and the club champion Shahid Abbas have much to support their game and in the absence of any kind of breeze, their long shots and the close in chips are expected to be in the excellence range.
However, in spite of their abilities and experience, the pressure of competition cannot be entirely ruled out, hence any poor showing is going to be a real embarrasment for them, so they have to watch out and play to a plan without getting upset.
More names that appear significant are those of the two brothers Asad IA Khan and Arshad IA Khan. Over the years they are considered an essential component of the country’s golf scene and their presence in Lahore is looked forward to. Other notable competitors are Ramzan Sheikh, Naseer Akhter, Nadeem Malik, Maj Gen Zafar Abbas and Fareed Bajwa. The tee off will be through a shot gun start at 10AM.
