The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has recognized the Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) by giving it NOC/recommendation for awarding degrees in various academic fields. A Sindh Madressah statement here on Thursday said the letter issued by the HEC on Wednesday says that `after having evaluation of the feasibility report and inspection of physical and academic infrastructure of the university, the HEC considers that the Sindh Madressatul Islam University Karachi meets the minimum requirements for degree awarding status in the public sector.
Therefore, the Chairman HEC has been pleased to grant NOC to Sindh Madressatul Islam University Karachi, the HEC letter added. “Sindh Madressatul Islam University is the only university that has been recognized by HEC in a shortest period after its establishment,” Dr. Muhammad Ali Shaikh, Vice Chancellor of SMIU, said and maintained that there are many universities established before SMIU but these are still waiting for recognition by HEC.
Dr Shaikh appreciated this act of HEC for the alma mater of the Father of the Nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Sindh Madressatul Islam University was established in February 2012, it was further stated.
