19 dengue cases confirmed, 81 more feared

At least 19 patients have been confirmed in Punjab as carriers of dengue, of the 1,127 suspected cases that had been reported. According to a report by the provincial health department, five dengue patients have been admitted in Mayo hospital, six in General and one each at the Ganga Ram and Nawaz Sharif hospitals. The report said that out of the 1,127 under observation, 81 patients have a high probability of being confirmed positive with dengue virus. Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has ordered an imposition of a ban on half-sleeve shirts and shorts as uniforms in educational institutions. While chairing a meeting of the dengue committee, Shahbaz said that strict action would be taken against those individuals who exhibit negligence in their duties during the campaign to counter the virus.
