At least five persons including a political activist were shot dead in different areas of the provincial metropolis here on Wednesday. According to police, the political activist was shot dead by unidentified gunmen at Mehran Depot stop, Model Colony.
Earlier in the morning, Shoukat, resident of New Karachi sector-5 was gunned down in the area. His wedding was scheduled on next week.
Two tortured dead bodies of women were found from a graveyard in Orangi Town and Korangi Crossing areas. A 70-year-old man identified as Sher Muhammad was killed in Orangi Town.
Tension prevailed in Martin Quarters area where an activist of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) was gunned down on Tuesday.
Private bank reduced to ashes : Fire broke out at a private bank branch situated at Jodia Bazar area of the city on Wednesday.
Police sources said that the fire broke out suddenly and immediately engulfed the bank and the building. The building was evacuated soon after the fire broke out.
Fire brigade team was called in which extinguished the fire. It is believed that short-circuit caused the fire.
Four killed in separate incidents : At least four persons including a woman died in separate mishaps here on Wednesday.
According to details, a 12 years old boy Sajid Ali Jagirani was drowned in Abdul canal near Kot Pull when he was taking bath in the canal. The body has yet to be found till filing of this story and people are searching it.
Meanwhile, Aadhyo Khan Shambani died of electrocution at village Bangul Khan Shambani when he was repairing the water motor in his house.
In another incident, a woman Mst Aisha was electrocuted at village Mola Bux when she had switch on the pedestal fan in her house.
In yet another incident, Muhammad Sharif died in hospital. He was injured in an accident near Kumb and was shifted to hospital where his succumbed to injuries.
Father arrested for ‘kari’: A father who killed his daughter declaring her ‘Kari’ on Eid day on the suspicion of having illicit relation with a local person was arrested here on Wednesday.
According to details, one unmarried girl Iqra Arain 17, was killed by his father Ghulam Mustafa Arain in village Mubarak Arain on Eid day in the jurisdiction of Faiz Jung police station and secretly buried her in a grave yard.
However, news leaked that she was killed over Karo Kari and not died of naturally the villagers rise voice and informed police. Police arrested Ghulam Mustaffa Arain and is investigating.
According to police they are investigating and case has been lodged in this regard.
