At least seven people were killed and 80 others injured in a head-on collision between two buses on the Indus Highway here on early Wednesday morning.
According to police, at least eight people were critically wounded in the accident, said the report, adding that the death toll may further rise.
The critically injured people were shifted to a hospital in the neighbouring city of Multan.
The accident took place when two fully packed buses moving in opposite direction hit each other on the Indus Highway near the Kara area of Dera Ghazi Khan.
One bus was heading for Karachi and another was heading for Rawalpindi. Some media reports said that the ultimate destination for the bus moving towards Peshawar.
Wednesday morning’s accident in Dera Ghazi Khan is the second serious accident of its kind that happened within the last 12 hours in the country. On Tuesday night, a passenger van carrying an estimated 40 people slipped into a river while travelling on a flooded road in Kashmir region, leaving nine people dead and six to eight people still missing.
