Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan Secretary General Liaqat Baloch has appealed to all political and democratic forces on Tuesday to get united on a minimum agenda for free, fair and transparent elections in the country.
While talking to a student delegation from Balochistan at Mansoora, he said the present rulers had failed on all fronts to solve the problems being faced by the people.
He said the rulers were creating confrontation between judiciary and other institutions to provide a cover for the plundered national wealth.
“They are indulging in non-issues rather than addressing the genuine issues of the people,” he added.
He reiterated his demand to the government to immediately announce the schedule for the general elections.
He was of the view that Baloch people were not rebellious but the wrong approach of policy makers had created an inferiority complex among the Baloch people.
He said elements in power wanted to solve Balochistan issue with brute force and bullets rather than finding a solution through a peaceful dialogue.
Baloch students expressed their deep concern over the attitude of higher authorities towards the province and said that the Baloch people had no confidence in the present rulers.
They said Baloch students wanted education, employment and their basic democratic rights including the rights on provincial resources which the rulers had always denied them this right.
The JI chief assured the visiting students that the JI would support the Baloch people at all levels and would continue its struggle for the early recovery of the missing persons and bringing an end to the military operations in the province.
