More than two dozen arrested members of banned outfits have been shifted to prisons in interior Sindh due to fear of possible attacks by these organizations to get free their members. Another 10 more will be shifted to different prisons soon, reliable sources told Pakistan Today on Tuesday. Sources told Pakistan Today that following reports of intelligence agencies about possible attacks on prisons in Karachi and Hyderabad, authorities issued an order about the shifting of arrested members of the organizations to the prisons in interior Sindh. “We have shifted 28 arrested members to various prisons in Sindh,” said a senior police official on condition of anonymity. Thirteen members of the TTP, seven of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, three of Jundullah and five members of the Sipah-e-Mohammad have been shifted to prisons in Jaccobabad, Sukkur and Larkana. “The Ministry of Interior in Islamabad had forewarned the police and officials of prisons in Karachi and Hyderabad about the possibility of attack on jails,” the official said. The ministry’s warnings two weeks ago cited reports by intelligence agencies of the Taliban’s plan to attack prisons. The most notorious of the transferred inmates, who were involved in several bombings and masterminded terrorist attacks would be under watch around the clock.
