Opposing the Thar coal power project, the Planning Commission has said that generating 100 megawatts of electricity from coal is unrealistic.
According to the Planning Commission report, the project is not implementable for the generation of electricity because heat range of gas produced by this project is 150 BTU which is not sufficient for power generation.
On the other hand, cost of purification plant is $ 1.35 million per megawatt that is impossible to execute, a private television channel reported on Tuesday.
According to the Planning Commission, production of gas from coal would cost millions of dollars while electricity production would cost $ 1.96 per megawatt.
The monitoring report says that projects like Thar Coal have never been successful anywhere in the world while it has been feared that underground water may be polluted due to this project.
It further says that experiment of 8 megawatts should be undertaken instead of 100 megawatts.

  1. In pakistan quasi scientists, analysts and the generel public seem to believe otherwise! A few weeks back they even seemed to believe that a certain guy could run cars on water! Its time we stop believing in fairy tales!

  2. This project was a flop from begining. Mubarakmand spent Rs. 1 billion rather wasted on this project and the fact is that he has his mouth wide opened to swallow some more shit. I heard that he has further demanded for 1 million grant. Bravo

  3. Just google "underground coal gasification" and see all the projects on line. See the facility in Uzbekistan and gas production.

What is the current condition of underground water? Is it sweet water we are talking about? Would you rather have air pollution instead.
Why do you need to purify the gas to fire power plant?

Where the reference to Planning commission?

Everybody kows that running cars on water was a joke. Where is Hamid Mir?
