Nisar supports PIA union referendum

ISLAMABAD – Opposition leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan asked the treasury on Friday to take notice of a notification issued by Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) to stop the PIA unions’ referendum on the pretext of security concerns. Speaking on a point of order during the national assembly session, he said if by-polls could be held in Shangla, why a referendum could be postponed in PIA.
Labour Minister Khurshid Shah said that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) government’s policy was labour-friendly and it would not allow anyone to deny elections in PIA. He added that he would make sure the timely elections in PIA and no one would be allowed to delay the electoral process.
Health Minister Makhdoom Shahabuddin said the government would cancel the licenses of pharmaceutical companies manufacturing Ephedrine and Amphetamine.
