The capital police have recovered stolen items worth Rs 131 million during the current year after tracing 266 cases successfully, a police spokesman said on Monday.
IGP Bani Amin Khan directed heads of all police circles to accelerate efforts in tracing theft as well as burglary cases and provide maximum relief to the citizens by solving their problems.
In compliance of these directions, heads of all police stations gave special directions to the investigation officers of various cases to make renewed efforts. During this year, a total of 266 theft cases were resolved and hundreds of theft accused were arrested, besides a total recovery of worth Rs 131 million from them.
The city zone police arrested a total of 129 theft accused and disposed of 43 cases while Saddar zone traced 106 theft cases and arrested 187 thieves.
Likewise, Industrial Area police successfully completed investigation of 46 cases and arrested 94 thieves while rural zone circle traced
