We have always respected the judiciary, and the decision on Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf’s appearance in the Supreme Court was taken unanimously by the ruling allies, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leader and Deputy Prime Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi said on Monday. Talking to reporters at the Supreme Court on the occasion of the prime minister’s appearance, he said they had “always opposed hostility and confrontation between the institutions”.
Replying to a question, Elahi said that all parties included in the ruling coalition had supported Ashraf’s appearance in the court. He said that “we respect the verdicts of the Supreme Court”, while accused his rival Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) of adopting a confrontation course with the judiciary in the past. He said that the PML-N had even attacked the Supreme Court under a plan, and afterwards hosted a reception in honor of the attackers.
