Doctors of Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) on Saturday observed strike for second day against torture on their fellow. The protesting doctors closed outdoor patients department (ODP) and operation theaters in the hospital during the strike. Hundreds of the patients were facing huge trouble due to non availability of the doctors in the OPD as well as in operation theaters. On Friday, senior doctor Professor Hameerul Islam was tortured by family members of a man who was admitted after being injured in a firing incident. He succumbed to injuries during treatment at the hospital and the family blamed the doctors of negligence. The protesting doctors demanded proper security for doctors and staff at hospital.
