An official al Qaeda website has identified the former US Navy SEAL who wrote a book about the raid that killed Osama bin Laden, and readers called for the author’s death. The site posted a photograph and the name of the commando, who had written under a pseudonym but whose name was revealed on Thursday on Fox News. The site called him “the dog who murdered the martyr Sheikh Osama bin Laden”.

The hunt for Osama bin Laden: For almost a decade, US intelligence officials were stymied by Osama bin Laden. That is – until CIA analysts at Langley changed their focus to the al Qaeda leader’s secret courier network. “O’ Allah, make an example of him for the whole world and give him dark days ahead,” said a typical comment. Another said, “O’ Allah, kill every one of them.”
US military officials have said the author could face investigation because he failed to clear the book with the Defense Department before publication, even if it does not disclose specific classified details.
