Renowned and senior journalist Shamim-ur-Rehman was laid to rest at ancestral graveyard in Pehlwan Goth, Gulistan-e-Jauhar Karachi on Tuesday.
Funeral prayers of Shamim-ur-Rehman who breathed his last in a private hospital on early Tuesday morning were offered at the Shumail Arcade mosque.
Besides family members and relatives, politicians including Senator Raza Rabbani, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Syed Munawar Hassan, Sindh IT Minister Raza Haroon, special assistant to CM Waqar Mehdi, journalist community and large number of people attended the funeral prayers.
Talking to media persons after the funeral prayers Senator Raza Rabbani, Munawar Hassan, Raza Haroon paid rich tribute to the services of late Shamim-ur-Rehman and termed his demise as a great loss for the journalist community.
Journalist G.M. Jamali on the occasion said he would appeal to the family of Shamim-ur-Rehman as well as employee to provide his writings to Karachi Union of Journalists to publish them in a form of book.
