Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Fayyaz Ahmed Leghari has directed extraordinary security arrangements for the Eid-ul-Fitr.
He also called for devising a contingency plan for this very purpose. The IGP instructed that police personnel be deployed at mosques, Eidgahs and Eid congregations at open places and Imambargahs besides central shopping centres, markets, bazars, parks, recreation places and at beach.
He directed that the deployment of the police personnels should be at conspicuous places. The IGP also instructed that there should be police picketing in the province and at the entry and exit points especially in the city of Karachi. He also directed arrangements for snap checking, surveillance and patrolling in sensitive areas.
He also stressed that there be patrolling on the highways and check posts be set up for the security of the passengers.
Unicef to upgrade villages in Ghotki: Unicef has decided to upgrade villages lacking in civic amenities in the district of Ghotki, Sindh.
Addressing a two-day seminar on child protection, Deputy Commissioner Zahid Ali Abbasi said that 100 villages of the district had been chosen for the project. They will be provided basic needs such as potable water, proper sanitation, health facilities and education.
Profiles of 64 villages have been completed. Three organisations Unicef, Plan International and Indus Resource Centre are working together on it. The projects will be handed over to the government, keeping all stakeholders in the loop.
