Federal Law Minister Farooq H Naek said on Thursday that “the government has always tried its best for reconciliation, and it does not want confrontation between the institutions.” He was talking to reporters outside the Supreme Court (SC) after the hearing of the federal government’s review petition against the SC’s July 12 order in connection with the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) implementation case. Naek lauded the SC for hearing him appropriately and sufficiently.
However, he was of the opinion that a seven-member bench cannot override the verdict delivered by a full-court bench ie 17-strong bench. “We will have to sit together to give positive musing to the national interest,” Naek remarked, adding the government would hold consultations over prime minister’s appearance before the court on August 27.
