The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday adjourned the hearing of review plea against July 12 order, saying without concrete pledge by the government in this regard, the court can’t suspend the contempt proceedings against Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf.
A five-member bench of the SC headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa continued hearing of the case of the Federation’s review petition against the July 12 Supreme Court (SC) order in connection with the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) implementation case.
Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa remarked that without concrete pledge by the government in this regard, the court can’t suspend the contempt proceedings against the PM.
Pleading before the bench, Federal Law Minister Farooq H. Naek said the government does not want clash among the institutions.
It should be mentioned here that the apex court, in its July 12 order directed Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf to write a letter to Swiss authorities to reopen graft cases against President Asif Ali Zardari without seeking any advice.
The bench comprises Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa, Justice Sarmad Jalal, Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan, Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Athar Saeed.
In previous hearing on Wednesday, Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa observed that the prime minister was not to apply his independent mind but to give direction for implementation of the court’s order in the NRO case.
The court indefinitely adjourned the hearing of review petition against the apex court’s July 12 order.

  1. immunity is only available to CJ, aralan and family for corruption. such is the justice ?
CJ is puppet and on Nawaz payroll, got him this his seat back . So first thing Nawaz Sharif did got him self cleared by this CJ all the cases he had on his head….All know this and every thing about CJ . So much lies and drama… My GOD talking about Justice….. Poor pakistan ……

  2. Sounds like SC is starting to back down. If that is the case then CJ needs to be hung on a pole along side zardari, gillani and ashraf. People of Pakistan have high hopes from the SC and if they give out thye perception that are giving the govt. unnecessary time then people will turn against the CJ.
