Federal Law Minister Farooq H. Naek said on Thursday that the government does not want confrontation among institutions.
He was talking to reporters outside the Supreme Court (SC) after a court hearing on the federal government’s review petition against the SC’s July 12 order in connection with the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) implementation case.
Lauding the court for hearing him appropriately and sufficiently, the federal minister said a seven-member bench cannot override the verdict delivered by a full-court bench.
“We will have to sit together to give positive musing to the national interest,” Naek remarked, adding the government will hold consultations over Prime Minister’s appearance before the court on August 27.
Replying to a query, Naek observed that all powers are vested in Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in accordance with the NAB Ordinance.
Answering a question regarding the future line of action in the NRO Implementation case, the federal minister Naek said: “My appearance before the court signals that the government takes the issue seriously.”
