Three persons were killed and several others injured in separate incidents of violence in different localities of the city on Wednesday. According to police, unknown gunmen shot a person dead identified as Sajid in Gulbahar area of city. His body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post mortem. After the incident, clashes were also reported between police and the residents. Three people, including a policeman were injured in the clashes. Unidentified gunned down a 33-year-old man in Gulshan Kaneez Fatima Society of Mubina Town. He was identified as Samiuddin. Meanwhile, several persons sustained injuries in separate firing incidents in Liaqatabad, Machhar Colony and other areas of Karachi. The police arrested five culprits during raids and operations in different areas across the city and recovered arms and drugs from their possession.
No Hindu community exodus: Provincial Minister for Revenue Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said that no exodus of the members of Hindu Community from Sindh is taking place.
The news of exodus is baseless and just propaganda against the country. This he said while talking to different delegations in his office on Wednesday.
He said, “Hindus are going to that country to visit religious sites and not for any other reason.”
Insecurity is not a matter.’ Jam Mehtab added that President Asif ali Zardari had taken serious notice of fleeing Hindus from Sindh and constituted a committee to look into the issue and grievances of Hindu community, besides this a cell had been established in the FIA where members of the minorities could lodge complaints about injustice if they had any.
Police arrest 54 accused
in 2 days: The Karachi police in their on-going drive against criminals arrested 54 accused during the past two days.
A police statement on Wednesday said that there were seven encounters with the police and five gangs of alleged criminals were busted during the period.
It said that 36 pistols, one Kalashinkov, one repeater, one rifle, one mouser, one hand grenade, three daggers and three mobile phones recovered from the possession of the accused, the police statement further pointed out.
