Asghar’s inquiry must be expedited: SC

The Supreme Court on Wednesday directed the Secretary Establishment to expedite the inquiry of former Inspector General Police of Gilgit Bitistan, Hussain Asghar, and submit s report by August 28. A three-member bench comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Jawwad S Khawaja and Justice Sh. Azmat Saeed resumed the hearing of a suo motu case regarding Hajj corruption arrangements in 2010. During the course of the hearing, an official of the Establishment division apprised the bench that Hussain Asghar had reported to the division and a departmental inquiry was underway against him for not following orders.
The chief justice directed the Secretary Establishment to expedite the inquiry and said that if Hussain had reported to the Establishment division, he should be re-reinstated and should resume the inquiry into the Hajj corruption case.
