Opposition leader in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has expressed concern over reports about potential army operation in North Waziristan and said that the military should not plunge the country into a war at the behest of a foreign country.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Nisar said that Gen Kayani should abide by the resolutions of parliament and All Parties Conference.
Replying to a question regarding PML-N’s contacts with the government, he said that there was no contact between the opposition and the government. He said why talks should be held with those who kept breaking their promises.
“People will no way support military operation in North Waziristan agency,” Nisar said, adding that the government had already made an “unwise decision” and “brought bad name to the country” by resuming NATO supply lines for the US and NATO forces in Afghanistan.
“We can’t afford another ill-advised decision,” the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader said.
Replying to a query about caretaker setup in the country ahead of the general polls, Nisar rebuffed the notion that the opposition was in contact with the ruling PPP-led government.
“Such speculations are irrational. Neither we are in talks nor in contact with the government. Our negotiations on the issue are even unlikely in the near future,” Nisar told reporters.
“Consultation with the government for a caretaker body has now become a secondary thing after passage of the 20th Constitutional Amendment. Now opposition’s consultation has no legal status at all. Only Election Commission of Pakistan has a central and key role in this regard,” he added.
The PML-N leader said his party would be holding talks only with other opposition parties after the Eid-ul-Fitr.

  1. let the forces do their work, Mr. Nisar didn't even performed the task assigned, he just knows how to oppose sitting and relaxing whole lot of time in opposition benches.
    The operation should go on!

  2. I am opposed to the army operation in north waristan and truely believe if USA and NATO vacate Afghanistan then north waristan would be peaceful, and anyways it seems like a dictat from Pakistans so called ally’s. If the operation is carried out, then it should ensure that all the anti Pakistan elements are destroyed and the rest brought under the control and obeisance of Pakistan rules and regulations, of course as expected the anti Pakistan elements will make a beeline for the Afghanistan border? The big Question is will the USA,NATO cover and apprehend from afghan side of the border?, and handover the culprits to the Pakistan law enforcement agency’s.

  3. what happened to case IK was filling against Nisar …. aik aur u-turn bandr khan ka hehe

  4. The Hell may Blow up in North Waziristan… and then no way back.
Kayani speech on 14 August at PMA was specifically for taking soldiers into confidence for this coming adventure in the name Terror War.
I am an ordinary man and still not willing to accept that this Terror War or War against Terrorism is our war. How come?

  7. I was positively inclined towards the PML-N but no more. Same old mantra: “it’s not our war!!”. He is hoodwinking the Pakistani public. Even General Kayani has said it is very much our war in August 2012 and so have the Taliban (repeatedly) by their actions in Swat and by their attacks on Pakistanis, the Pakistan army and Pakistan’s sovereignty. There are multiple you tube videos where they clearly state that they want to make Pakistan a Taliban state. Their latest proof of this is an attack on a 14 year old girl.
The PML-N has no solution, in fact they are obstructing because they are sympathetic to the Taliban cause. Are Pakistanis willing to accept these as the countries leaders? Are Pakistanis willing to accept Talibanisation? I think an emphatic no. This war will not come to an end and Pakistan will not progress economically until the Taliban are defeated. The PML-N should be booted out in the next election so that Pakistanis can start to hope for their future once more.

  8. Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan your party always supported right wing elements just to garner votes. Your statement is no wonder for me and other Pakistanis. Terrorists have besieged Pakistan and killing innocent people, how long you and your party will continue playing politics on the lives of innocent country felloes. Talibans have a political objective i.e to enforce their system of governance in Afghanistan/ any other place they can lay their hand on. Presence of foreign forces in Afghanistan is blocking achievement of their aim. They are carrying out a form of warfare, known as “Terrorism” against these forces to attain their political objective. USA led western powers thinks that the political aim of Talibans is against their politico-strategic aims. Western powers are using a combination of military force-economic power to achieve their political aim. Drone’ is a weapon system being used against Talibans in this war which seems to be hurting them most. Arbitrary use of drones’ in Pakistan hurts its sovereignty. What PTI needs to understand is that stopping use of a specific weapon system will not end war/casualties? The issue is larger than that and needs a well think out strategy to handle. Sovereignty as an issue was also missing in the March’.
