LUMS EE programme earns PEC accreditation

The Lahore University of Management Science’s Electrical Engineering Programme has formally received accreditation by the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) for its undergraduate programme. The first batch of the Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering (SBASSE) and of the Department of Electrical Engineering graduated this year which means that the nascent department has been accredited in its very first year only. The PEC team visited the varsity several times and then decided to grant accreditation to the prestigious university. “This is an important milestone in the history of EE department and was eagerly awaited by the faculty, the students and their parents,” Dr Shahid Masud, chair of the Electrical Engineering Department, said.

HEC has awarded a research grant of PKR 1.5 Million to LUMS faculty to work on project ‘Spectral Graph Theory Methods for Self Assembly of Hexagonal Structures.’ This shows HEC is facilitating the development of higher educational system. HEC should seriously upgrade the govt universities and promote research in Pakistan.
