A judge in Jaffarabad awarded two-year imprisonment and a fine of Rs 0.5 million to former Balochistan Assembly speaker Mir Zahoor Hussain Khosa on Friday for holding a fake degree. Khosa contested and won the provincial assembly seat as an independent candidate in 2008 polls on a certificate issued by a religious seminary. His degree was challenged in the court.
Earlier, the Supreme Court had declared his degree fake and disqualified him from the assembly seat, besides directing the Election Commission to register a case of forgery against him. The case was registered at Jaffarabad Police Station, and the police had submitted the challan in the District and Sessions Court, Jaffarabad. Announcing the judgment, Judge Aimal Khan Bazai awarded Mir Zahoor Hussain Khosa two years in jail and a fine of Rs 0.5 million.
