Following emergence of polio’s P3-wild category in localities of the metropolis, additional vaccines for P3 polio virus would be administered during the immunization campaign in Karachi, officials said.
EDO Health Karachi Imdad Ullah Siddiqui said that town health officers and representatives of union councils were called in a meeting to ensure a successful anti-polio campaign starting from September amid reports of P3 virus in Gadap, Baldia Town, Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Sohrab Goath localities.
Along with regular vaccination, he said, children below the age of five would also be administered oral anti-P3 virus drops.
