Two killed, several injured in violence

At least two persons were killed and eight others were injured in separate firing incidents in different localities of the city on Thursday.
According to police, some unidentified persons opened fire and killed a man in Shah Latif Town. The body was shifted to hospital for postmortem.
In yet another firing incident in Manghopir area, a man named Nakheel Khan was killed and his son Akbar was severely injured.
In Bangla Bazaar, Orangi Town, PPP activists Javed Bihari and Kamran were wounded in firing by some unidentified persons.
The firing between the two groups at the Akbar Road left Majid, Usman, Ibrahim wounded while two people were injured in firing in Baghdadi area.
The enraged protestors moved to streets and held violent protests over the two incidents. The protest was so violent that police and Rangers failed to reach the scene. They also set ablaze two passengers buses. The angry mob resorted to aerial firing that injured four people after a political worker who was hurt in a firing incident yesterday in Orangi Town, passed away here on Thursday.
According to senior police officer SSP West Amir Farooqui, Javed Batla, a political activist, succumbed to injuries in a hospital on Saturday. The angry people took to the streets in protest and set a bus on fire besides resorting to indiscriminate firing in Orangi Town’s Bangla Bazaar area.
He said at least four people were hurt in the firing, adding that more contingents of police had been deployed in the affected area to control the situation.
Meanwhile, a blast in a car parked near a private hospital in Gulberg area wounded PPP activists Salman and Rizwan Baloch. According to police, the blast occurred due to explosive material planted in the car.
