Five more fall prey to violence

At least five people were killed in different areas of the metropolis on Saturday. According to police sources, two dead bodies were found from Pan Mandi and Bheempura areas. The bodies were sent to hospitals for identification. A body was also found from Mauripur area.
A man, Manzoor, was shot dead in gunmen’s firing in Mansehra, Landhi. A 12-year-old boy Zakir was injured in the firing incident.
A man, Altaf, was injured in firing after he resisted to robbers in Nazimabad area of the city. He was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment.
On the other hand, traders staged a protest against arrest of their fellow near Defence Library.
Boy electrocuted: A 13-year-old boy was electrocuted in SITE area of the city on Saturday.
According to police sources, Idrees was playing cricket outside his home situated in Frontier Colony, SITE. While chasing a ball, his feet entangled with electric wires and he died on the spot, they added.
Residents of the area blamed the Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) for the incident and they demanded immediate repair of the broken wires.
5 activists of banned outfit arrested: As many as five activists of a banned outfit have been arrested in targeted operations of the law enforcing agencies in various areas of the city.
The activists have been arrested on the charges of attack on Rangers.
According to Ranger sources, five members of a banned organization were rounded up in the targeted operation in Bin Qasim, Baldia Town and various areas of Landhi. Weapons were also recovered from their possession.
On contact, the Rangers authorities confirmed the arrest and said the criminals belonged to a banned outfit and interrogations were underway. They have been arrested on the charges of attacking Rangers mobile in Quaidabad on 15 and 16 July and in Buffer zone on July 18.
626 persons fined, 58 sent to jails: The incharge of the provincial price control cell established under the directives of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah at CM House has informed that the teams constituted for price control in Sindh on Saturday fined 626 persons and 58 persons were sent to jails on violation of government instructions and committing profiteering and over charging in various districts of province.
He said an amount of Rs 51541,000 was also recovered from them as fine.
According to details, 68 persons were fined in district Karachi West, 26 in Karachi South, 16 in Karachi Malir, 84 in Karachi East, 128 in Karachi Central, 14 in Hyderabad, 24 in Badin, 5 in Jamshoro, 11 in Matiari, 15 in Shaheed Benazir Abad, 18 in Tando Allahyar, 25 in Tando Muhammad Khan, 11 in Mirpurkhas, 7 in Sanghar, 76 in Tharparkar, 9 in Khairpur, 13 in Larkana, 27 in Jacobabad, 9 in Kashmore and 13 in Shikarpur.
