The trade buzz is that Shah Rukh Khan and Rohit Shetty’s Chennai Express has been sold for `105 crore. This news is no surprise to industry watchers as Rohit’s last outing at the theatres, Bol Bachchan also fetched a fab price. His teaming up with the Bollywood Badshah is definitely something the trade and the janta is excited about. We asked the film’s co-producer Siddharth Roy Kapur for a confirmation. However he refused to comment. A reliable trade source told us, “Shah Rukh and a film corporation are partnering on this one. Chances are that they will only sell the satellite, home video and music rights and actually keep the overseas and Indian theatrical rights with themselves.” How then is this `105 crore figure being talked about? “As in all industry deals, there are heels within wheels,” says our source. “The exact nature of the transaction will be out sooner or later.”
