Three more peacocks die in Tharparkar, toll rises to 165

Three more peacocks died at Tharparkar desert due to the dreadful viral disease, Ranikhet, taking the death toll on Wednesday to 165 in a brief period of 24 days. According to a private news channel, two peacocks died whiel under treatment by the Wildlife Department at Bepohar, while the third one severely struck by the Rani khet died in Bhanbhan. As many as 129 peacocks have fallen prey to this mysterious disease in Tharparkar alone. Locals say the root cause of this viral disease is the hens.

  1. Would the Wildlife Department take notice and do the needful? This is too much, the Wildlife Department should open their eyes and take the necessary steps to overcome this disease. Peacocks are not only beautiful birds but they have religious affiliations as well. It is also a way of bringing the tourists to visit Tharparkar.
