At least five inmates manage to break the Chilas jail on Wednesday, a local television said.
According to the channel the prisoners, doing time to murder and dacoity, broke the barrack locks and escaped by cutting the boundary wire on jail walls.
Giligit-Baltistan police has instigated a search operation and investigation into the incident.
