Mohammad Muneer of Sheikhupura will attempt three world records of maximum pushups of different styles in his bid to create fresh Guinness World Records during the Punjab Youth Festival 2012.
The Punjab Government has asked the Pakistani nationals who are serious contenders to break or establish world records before the team of Guinness Book of World Records, to come forward and get the country’s name registered in the book. The Guinness World team will be reaching Pakistan by mid-October and record the best efforts of the Pakistan nationals during the Punjab Youth Festival, which itself is one of the biggest events of its kind in the world.
Director General Punjab Sports Board Usman Anwar said that they are providing a platform for those who are serious in establishing world record and all those who can break or create a new record can come join hands.
Muneer on Monday officially filed his documents under the Punjab Youth Festival banner, to create record in a new style of pushups. He said that he can improve his maximum pushups record of more than 2503 in one hour, which he established in 2011 and he will also create record in a new style of pushups which is a mix of pushups and squats and that will be 1500 in one hour.
He further stated that he would also beat the previous best Guinness World Record of 3877 pushups by going up for 5000 pushups mark in one hour.
In the pushups style mentioned by the Guinness World Record, India’s Bijender Singh established it by 3877 pushups in an hour on September 20, 1988.
“I will be taking the hardest way of pushups which is difficult for the best pahlwan to beat,” he said.
“Its a desi style of pushups which is quite tough and hard than the regular style recorded by Bijender,” he said, adding that he works out daily for four hours to set the world record.
Director General Punjab Sports Board Usman Anwar said that all those Pakistanis who are attempting for the world record have about three months time. They should work hard in their bid so that there would not be any problem before the Guinness World Record team, he added.
Usman further informed that around 36 people have shown their intentions for the world record and five of them are those who would be improving their previous marks.
On incentives for these people who would create records, Usman Anwar said that the chief minister Punjab provided enough money during the Punjab Sports Festival and he would be requested again to announce incentives for these people.
