Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Fakharuddin G Ibrahim would make the announcement of new electoral roll in a press conference, he added. He said the record of new electoral roll would be available on the ECP website, adding that any individual could amend his name in the lists until the announcement of the schedule for the general elections. Replying to a question, the ECP secretary said that the new elections would be conducted on old constituencies, as a census was required for holding them in new constituencies. Meanwhile, the PAC directed the ECP to set up polling stations in residential areas in accordance with the elections schemes.
The CEC would command all the administrative mechanism established for the elections . The PAC said that the presiding officer would be hired from the judiciary.
The ECP secretary informed the committee that a constitutional amendment was available to put all government machinery under the CEC during the elections, adding that the code of conduct for the judiciary refrained the judges from performing the duties as presiding officers.
