Deputy Prime Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi on Sunday accused Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif of leading protests to burn and damage houses of opponents, adding that the provincial government failed to generate a single megawatt of electricity after the passage of the 18th Amendment. Addressing a press conference on Sunday after presiding over a meeting, the deputy prime minister said if Shahbaz Sharif had implemented Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain formula and the province had still been denied of electricity, the PML-Q leadership would have been standing shoulder to shoulder with Shahbaz. He blamed the chief minister for staging “dramas” through his tent offices. Elahi said not a single new development project had been launched in the province and just plates were being changed for the schemes initiated during his tenure to claim credit for them. He was critical of the deteriorating law and order in Punjab, pointing out that incidents of robberies and gang rapes as well as murder were on the rise. Elahi also formed a cell under Adviser to the Prime Minster for Industries Mohammad Basharat Raja to receive complaints against Utility Stores Corporation. He said flour supply had resumed at USCs after successful negotiations with flour mills.
