The Rawal Town tehsil municipal administration (TMA) confiscated two trucks loaded with goods from various city markets during its campaign against encroachments while a number of shopkeepers were also fined.
A large number of tyres were also confiscated as the city district government has strictly warned the shopkeepers that tyres, new and old, should be properly packed and covered to reduce the risk of dengue.
The anti-encroachment operation with campaign to check tyre shops was launched on the directives of Administrator Saif Anwar Jappa.
According to the Rawal Town TMA spokesman, the grand clean-up operation against encroachments is underway in the city and has been accelerated on the instructions of Administrator Saif Anwar Jappa.
The spokesman said that the city markets are regularly being visited and the staff concerned was raiding main markets of the town. The vendors found selling their products while displaying them on footpaths and roads are fined with warnings, he said.
The administrator has also issued special directives to the authorities concerned to submit reports about the anti-encroachment operation on daily basis. He has also warned those violating the orders that strict action would be taken against them.
