Fazl backs MQM’s bid for national moot

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) delegation tasked with meeting political and religious parties of the country met with the second-largest opposition party Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) on Saturday. Talking to the media after the meeting, MQM leader Farooq Sattar reiterated his party’s stance of ‘uniting all the political parties of the country for the greater good’.
“We need to start working on solving issues from now on to ensure better working in the future,” said Sattar while thanking JUI-F chief Fazlur Rehman. Rehman praised MQM chief Altaf Hussain for calling for unity in the country. “The country is facing serious challenges which need to be solved with national unity,” said Rehman, adding that his party has also always stressed on the importance of unity. According to the MQM, the party will announce a date for the planned roundtable conference after the meetings with political parties conclude. On Friday night, the MQM delegation visited Sunni Tehreek (ST) headquarters in Karachi to invite its leadership to the national moot. Talking to ST leaders at Markaz Ahl-e-Sunnat, Sattar stressed on the need of national consensus in order to save the country from external and internal threats. Kunwar Naveed Jamil, Dr Sagheer Ahmed and Wasay Jalil comprised the MQM delegation. ST leader Sarwat Ijaz Qadri and other senior leaders welcomed the MQM delegation and discussed national affairs at length. Talking to reporters after holding talks with the ST leaders, Sattar said that his party had invited ST to join hands with MQM to bring all the parties to the table.
