Fire erupts at soap-manufacturing factory

LAHORE – Valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees were reduced to ashes when a fire erupted at a soap-manufacturing factory in the Shalimar Town Police Station precincts on Monday. According to details, Muhammad Imran, a resident of the Shalimar Town, owned a soap-manufacturing factory at the Shalimar Link Road in which a fire erupted due to short-circuit.
Rescue 1122 fire fighters reached the spot and extinguished the fire. According to rescue officials, no casualties were reported in the incident but the factory owner claimed that he has incurred losses worth Rs 0.3 million. Separately, five people, including a woman, were injured when a rashly-driven motorcycle-rickshaw overturned due to speeding at the Walton Road in the Factory Area Police Station precincts.
The injured were shifted to the Jinnah Hospital in Edhi Foundation ambulances and reported to be in a stable condition. Also on Monday, an unidentified man was found dead in the Lytton Road Police Station precincts. According to details, a man was lying under mysterious circumstances near the Lytton Road Police Station on which passers-by informed police, which after reaching the spot confirmed the man’s death. According to police, the man might have been a dug addict and died of an overdose. The body was moved to the morgue for autopsy.
