Sindh varsity syndicate approves Rs 631m budget

The Syndicate of University of Sindh has approved the recurring budget of Rs 3,058 million with a deficit of Rs 631.264 million for the year 2012-2013 and recommended the senate of the university with a resolution to write the Higher Education Commission to release the grants for the year 2011-2012 in order to overcome the deficit. According to university spokesman, the syndicate also approved the revised the budget estimates of Rs 2760.365 million with deficit of Rs 38.974 million for the year 2011-2012.
The budget was approved by the Syndicate in its 182nd meeting which held the other day was chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Nazir A Mughal and attended among others by Justice (Retd) Hamid Ali Mirza, Advisor to Governor Sindh Mumtaz Rehman, Dr.Parven Shah, Dr.Rafia Ahmed Shaikh, Dr Anwar Ali Shah, Dr.Imdad Ali Ismaili, Dr.Asadullah Larik, Dr Mumtaz Bhutto, Dr Sarfraz Hussain Solangi, Prof Abdul Sattar Ansari, Jhamat Jethanand, Prof. Ahmed Ali Shaikh, Dr Ghulam Murtaza Mastoi, Prof Badaruddin Soomro, Imran Ali Halepoto and Registrar Muhammad Nawaz Narejo. The Director Finance Mushtaq Ahmed while briefing the meeting about recurring budget in the light of recommendations of Finance Planning Committee (FPC) informed that for the year 2012-2013 the income has been estimated as Rs 2427.228 million as compared to expenditures which are Rs 3058.492 million.
He informed that under revised budget for the year 2011-2012 the income has been estimated as Rs 2721.391 millon and expenditures are Rs 2760.365 million.
All set for celebrations 65th Independence Day : Hyderabad Commissioner Ahmed Bux Narejo on Wednesday chaired a meeting to discuss arrangements for Pakistan Independence Day celebrations on August 14. The deputy commissioners and representatives of all districts, officers from Sindh police, education, revenue and other line departments decided to organise mega programmes at divisional and district headquarters. Speaking on the occasion, the commissioner said that great responsibilities lie on the education department and teachers to groom young generation about the history of Pakistan and future potential of the country and the nation.
He asked to all deputy commissioners that not only to prepare their plan for celebrations of 65th Independence Day with zeal and enthusiasm at district headquarters but also the same activities should be organized at taluka level as well.
