District Bar Association (DBA) Mardan, on Monday, rejected the contempt bill and said government through this bill wanted to protect their favorites.
Lawyers also observed the day as “black day” and boycotted the court proceedings.
Addressing the members of bar association, DBA President Abdul Ahad Khan said that government passed court contempt law at such a situation when the case of writing letter to Swiss government and National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) were under process and in such condition passing such type of bill was against the democracy.
He said the democracy was strengthened by acting on the judiciary decisions and added that lawyers would struggle to implement the judiciary decisions.
