The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday sought a reply from the federal government on the construction of Kalabagh Dam by August 7.
Hearing a petition filed by AK Dogar, LHC Chief Justice Umer Atta Bindyal asked the federal government and the political parties who were against the construction of Kalabagh Dam to submit their replies by August 7.
During the hearing, when the deputy attorney general informed the court that the federal government had not yet submitted its reply in the case, the LHC chief justice asked the attorney general to give a final chance to the federal government and inform it to submit its reply by the given date.
The LHC chief justice remarked that those political parties having differences over the construction of the dam should also submit their replies by the given date.
Dogar informed the court that the construction of the dam was made controversial, asking the court to order the federal government to submit its reply. He said construction of dam would not only solve the problem of water crisis in the country but also helpful in solving the problem of load shedding. Later, the case was adjourned until August 7.
