The Punjab Government has planned to set up 8 Daanish Schools in districts where poverty holds back the noble cause of education.
The endeavor will decrease the dropout ratio of children from schools and improve literacy rate in the poverty-ridden districts of Bhakkar, Vehari, Layyah and Lodhran.
Talking to a 15-member delegation of school owners and educationists on Tuesday, Chairman Punjab Education Foundation Raja Muhammad Anwar stated the provincial government is making efforts in this regard, allocating funds worth Rs2 billion during the current fiscal year to improve education-standard in these districts.
While briefing the delegation about the initiatives of the Punjab Government for promoting education in poor communities, he said this would give an opportunity to the children of poor communities to get their fundamental right of education.
Punjab Government has also converted different Public Sector schools to model schools to improve the quality of teaching, he noted.
More schools will also be converted to model schools under a phased program in the current fiscal year for which Rs700 million have been allocated, he maintained.
