At least six people including two brothers fell prey to killing incidents in the ongoing violence spree in the metropolis, police said on Monday. The saboteurs opened fire in Manghopir killing moazzin of Masjid Faizan. In another incident, two citizens were abducted from Malir Khokharapar and later on their bullet riddled bodies were found. A man identified as Ahmed Ali was also injured in the same firing incident.
Body of Gul Muhammed alias Rehan Danger, the brother of deceased Muhammed Ayaz was found from Model Colony Old Railways Line area of Malir. He was tortured to death. The bereaved family said they were not at loggerheads with anyone.
Body of a man Abdus Sattar was found from Tibbet Center. Another limb-tied body was recovered form the city courts. Both of them were friends and residents of Dalmia in Karachi.
An improvised explosive device (IED) planted at quarters of Ahmed Mill, Quaidabad, went off with a loud bang. A Ranger mobile, parked near the site of explosion, was completely destroyed and four Rangers personnel including Lance Naik Sanaullah, Sepoy Nawaz, Qasim, Rizwan and a security guard Faiz Muhammed were injured. The explosion made a hole in the wall of Ahmed Mill’s quarters with some damage to the check post as well. The glasses of nearby shops were smashed with the fierceness of the blast.
DSP Qamar Ahmed said it was a remote-controlled bomb device.
Meantime, Quaidabad police registered the explosion case against unknown miscreants. It is pertinent to mention here that this is the second remote-controlled blast within four days.
