Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry will inaugurate a newly-constructed Judicial Complex Rawalpindi today (Monday). Preparations in this regard are in full swing.
The complex contains around 50 fully furnished and centrally air-conditioned courts which have been constructed in accordance with international standard while shifting of staff and office’s furniture into the complex has also started.
Besides the chief justice, the ceremony will be attended by judges of the Supreme Court, chief justices of all the provinces, high court judges, members of the Pakistan Bar Council, office-bearers of SC Bar Association as well as judges of Tehsil and district courts.
Meanwhile, lawyers community and citizens have expressed concerns over non-shifting of several courts including four accountability courts and local courts to the judicial complex, saying free and speedy justice will be provided to consumers if all the courts are shifted to the complex.
They said the session judge’s court set up in a building which was rented by the Punjab government in Lalkurtai was not accessible by the litigants.
Likewise several other courts are set up separately causing inconveniences to the lawyers and consumers, they added.
They demanded the government to shift all local courts in the judicial complex.
