A group show of paintings by various artists on thought-provoking themes will conclude here on July 14 at Nomad Art Gallery.
The show entitled `Serenade’ was the second exhibition from the series of the summer art shows that presented over 20 art pieces, created with mediums like acrylic on board, mixed media and oil on canvas. The participating artists include Anjum Ayub, Asad-ur-Rehman, Arjumand Awan, Zia Zaidi, Tabassum Rizvi, Mughees Riaz and Hanif Abdul (German/Pakistani origin).
The striking collection captures experimental as well as thought-provoking paintings and prints by local and international contemporary artists with a Pakistani origin, said Nageen Hyat, Director Nomad. Asad-ur-Rehman is a French abstract expressionist painter and sculptor of Pakistan origin. His canvases are exuberant and color-filled. Asad’s work is generally characterized by a strong dependence on what appears to be accident and chance, but which is actually planned. His mature work appears to be influenced by French artists, where he has studied and has been living for more than two decades.
He believes that abstract art is a way to achieve what is really important and each medium of expression. He has participated in many national and international art exhibitions Arjumand Awan expresses his creativity through different media and fields like fine arts, decoration and film making. He depicts various aspects of life – socio, political and personal with the medium of mixed media.
Zia Zaidi’s paintings are an expression of non-physical experience about love and life, believing in inner truth and guidance.
Anjum Ayub is a print maker, deeply attracted and moved by the concerns of the soul and uses different techniques to create a sanctuary for the soul and then as the world is mortal, the subjects of her paintings and prints also keep vanishing.
Tabassum Rizvi captures the fleeting effects of forms and their expressions in imagery of women enhanced by the effects of shade and light. Her images depict moods, thought and places with bold or heavy strokes depicting its different facet. She works with oil paints on canvas. Mughees Riaz shows interest in landscape painting while Hanif Abdul is a self-taught artist of Pakistan origin, living and working in Frankfurt (Germany) for more than six years.
