LAHORE – SSGC, NBP, Army and PIA won their respective matches of the 58th National Hockey Championship, which is in progress at the Faisalabad Hockey Stadium. On Saturday, another four matches were played. SSGC fought hard to beat Navy 5-4, NBP thrashed PTV 4-0, Army struggled to defeat Port Qasim 4-3 and PIA was stretched to its limit by HBL for a 3-2 win.
Another five matches will be played on January 31. PIA take on Navy at 0730hrs, Army face PTV at 0930hrs, WAPDA meet Port Qasim at 1130 hrs, NBP play Steel Mill at 1330 hrs and HBL clash with SSGC at 1530 hrs.
Results: SSGC beat Navy 5-4; SSGC: Shabbir Khan 2 Goals in 6th & 16th Minutes, Arslan Haider 13th Minute, Zeeshan 46th Minute & Abbas Haider 63rd Minute.
Navy: Sabir 2 Goals in 19th & 69th Minutes, Khalid 66th Minute & Rao Nadeem 67th Minute. NBP beat PTV 4-0; NBP: Ateeq 3 Goals in 13th, 16th & 28th Minutes & Amar Ishrat 9th Minute. Army beat Port Qasim 4-3; Army: Kashif 2 Goals in 12th & 22nd Minutes, Sohail 25th Minute & Hassan Arifi 38th Minute.
Port Qasim: Samiullah Niazi 2 Goals in 32nd & 49th Minutes & M. Atif 13th Minute.
PIA beat HBL 3-2; PIA: M. Irfan 20th Minute, Kashif Ali 39th Minute & Shafqat Rasool 46th Min. HBL: Rana Zubair 26th Minute & Adeel Hussain 55th Minute.
